UFC 298 takes place this weekend with Alexander Volkanovski defending his featherweight title against Ilia Topuria in the main event.
Volkanovski defeated Yair Rodriguez in July to secure his fifth successful title defense, but suffered defeats to Islam Makhachev on either side of that victory.
While fighting for the lightweight title, Volkanovski was outpointed by Makhachev in February and was eliminated in round one in October. Given the brutality of that second result, when Volkanovski stepped in late, some fans fear for the Australian as he prepares to face Topuria.
The unbeaten Topuria, 27, is eight years younger than Volkanovski and has 12 placings with 14 wins. The Georgian, who plays outside of Spain, has a versatile game and appears to have the power to threaten the champion.
