Colorado Center Nathan MacKinnonEdmonton goalkeeper Stuart Skinner and Vancouver Center Elias Pettersson were named among the NHL’s three stars for January.
MacKinnon led the NHL with 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) and tied for the top spot with five game-winning goals as the Avalanche went 9-3-0 to take the top spot in the Central Division for a month.
MacKinnon, who was also named the league’s first star in December, picked up a point in all 12 of Colorado’s contests, extending his overall points streak to 13 games.
The 28-year-old MacKinnon, who will make his fifth career NHL All-Star appearance this weekend in Toronto, is second in the league with 84 points (31 goals, 53 assists).
Skinner posted a 9-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .953 save percentage, helping the Oilers to a perfect month and extending their winning streak to 16 games, one shy of the NHL record.
Pettersson, who will make his fourth career All-Star Game this weekend, tied for the league lead with 14 goals and tied MacKinnon with five game-winners as the league-leading Canucks scored 10 in January. 1:2 documents.
