Djokovic sings the famous Beastie Boys song to the audience after winning the US Open
Novak Djokovic will be looking to win another major title when he takes on Daniil Medvedev in the US Open men’s singles final tonight. This game is a repeat of the 2021 final in which Medvedev triumphed over the Serb, and tonight’s clash is one of the most anticipated meetings of the tournament.
World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz was the defending US Open champion and was expected to set up a repeat of the Wimbledon final, but he was beaten in four sets by Medvedev in the semifinals. Djokovic can secure his 24th Slam tonight and equal Margaret Court’s record of singles titles. He reached the showpiece US Open tournament by defeating 20-year-old American Ben Shelton in the semifinals.

Daniil Medvedev knows he has to perform perfectly to win the US Open
Daniil Medvedev knows he has to be the “best version of himself ever” if he wants to win a second US Open title.
Medvedev rated himself 12 out of 10 for his surprise semi-final victory over world number one and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
The third-seeded Russian will probably have to increase that number to at least 13 if he wants to deny Novak Djokovic his 24th Grand Slam title.
“It’s always the same against Novak. He is always better than the last game,” said Medvedev.

Rafael Nadal’s fitness update ahead of farewell tour in 2024
Rafael Nadal’s recovery from injury is going “great” so far, but it is still too early to put a timetable on when he will return to action, says his compatriot and friend Feliciano Lopez.
Nadal, 37, announced in May that he expected 2024 to be his farewell tour, during which he would “try to enjoy and say goodbye to all the tournaments that were important to me.”
Lopez, the former world number 12, spoke to Nadal in Mallorca at the end of June and revealed that his health was in good condition following his operation.
“He looked great,” Lopez told a group of gathered media members The Independent. “Just a few weeks after surgery he was looking great, functioning perfectly, feeling healthy and so far everything is going great.”

Coco Gauff takes the US Open title with an incredible comeback victory over Aryna Sabalenka
Coco Gauff fulfilled the script she wrote as a 15-year-old by succeeding Serena Williams and becoming America’s first teenage Grand Slam champion in more than 20 years.
Williams’ diamond-studded, star-studded departure from tennis at Flushing Meadows last year showed the impact she had on the sport for more than 25 years.
But it also left a huge void, particularly in tennis in the United States, where the lack of male success over the same period has led to a decline in the sport’s profile.
Now, 12 months later, Gauff seamlessly takes over the baton and is poised to become one of the biggest sports stars in the world.

What time is the US Open men’s final and how can I watch it?
The men’s final is one of the most anticipated clashes of the entire US Open tournament and will pit Novak Djokovic against Daniil Medvedev in a repeat of the 2021 final.
Alcaraz was the defending US Open champion and world number one, but was beaten by Medvedev in four sets.
Djokovic did not take part in the tournament last year due to the USA’s coronavirus vaccination requirement, but is looking to build on his record against the 27-year-old Russian, who defeated him in straight sets two years ago.
Djokovic has 23 Grand Slams to his name and if he can secure a 24th it would equal Margaret Court’s record of singles titles.
