Around the NHL: Blue Jackets activate Patrik Laine from IR; Pens get Jarry back


The Columbus Blue Jackets I have activated forwarding Patrick Laine From injured reserve, making the Finn available for Saturday’s game against the Red Wings.

The 25-year-old Laine has a goal and an assist in four games this season and has not played since a high hit on Calgary’s Rasmus Andersson on Oct. 20. He was suspended four games for the charges.

The Blue Jackets (4-6-3) play at Detroit at 1 p.m. and are excited to have Laine back. The game can be seen on Sportsnet+.

To make room for Laine, the Blue Jackets assigned defenseman David Jiricek to their AHL team.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is expected to start Saturday against Buffalo after leaving Tuesday’s game against the Ducks with an injury.

Jarry was injured when his helmet was ripped off by the Ducks’ Adam Henrique and the puck subsequently hit him in the face.

The 28-year-old is 4-5-0, with a 2.52 GAA and .907 save percentage in nine games this season.
