Bayern Munich vs Man Utd LIVE: Champions League team news, lineups and more tonight

Ten Hag “very respectful” towards Bayern Munich before the Champions League duel

Manchester United face a tough test when they take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the opening game of this year’s Champions League group stage.

Erik ten Hag’s team is in crisis with three defeats in four Premier League games and an ever-growing injury list. The Red Devils lacked the conviction and skill to beat big teams like Arsenal or well-trained newcomers like Brighton. This situation can only get worse when they face the Bundesliga champions in Germany tonight.

Bayern signed England captain Harry Kane in the summer, who immediately made a lasting impression, scoring four goals in as many games for the club. Kane left Spurs to join the prolific German side in their title hunt and he will be looking to impress on Europe’s biggest stage.

Bayern Munich vs Manchester United

Given Manchester United’s recent turmoil, lack of available players and recent results, it’s difficult to look past Bayern to win the game, especially when you add home advantage.

Bayern are unbeaten in the league this year, while United have lost three games in four games. This seems like an easy choice, but you can never tell in the Champions League.

What’s new from the team?

Manchester United suffered another injury blow to their already weakened squad against Brighton when Aaron Wan-Bissaka picked up an injury as a late substitute.

He was on the bench due to illness, but now has to take some time off. Left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are already out, as are Raphael Varane and Sofyan Amrabat, who arrived on deadline day and is still waiting for his debut.

Mason Mount has been out since last month, Tom Heaton, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo were also missing, Jadon Sancho was not allowed to train for the first time and Antony was placed on leave due to the assault allegations against him.

David Moyes led Manchester United to the Allianz Arena, where his team wanted to build on the 1-1 draw in the second leg of the 2014 Champions League quarter-final.

Patrice Evra scored the first goal against Bayern Munich in the second half, but the German team responded just a few minutes later through Mario Mandžukić.

Goals from Arjen Robben and current vice-captain Thomas Müller were enough to give Pep Guardiola’s side a 4-2 aggregate result, losing in the semi-finals to eventual winners Real Madrid.

Harry Kane’s former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was on the Bayern bench but did not make it onto the pitch.

Bayern Munich vs Manchester United

Good evening and welcome The Independents Coverage of today’s Champions League game as Manchester United travel to Germany to take on Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag has struggled with an injury crisis at Old Trafford that has seen players such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane sidelined. As a result, United’s defensive capabilities are not as strong as they could be, which, among a host of other faults, has contributed to their recent poor form.

The biggest problem is the lack of goals in the forward line, but Ten Hag will be hoping Rasmus Hojlund can settle in quickly and become the Red Devils’ star striker.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, already has one. Harry Kane has scored four goals in as many games since joining the German giants and will be looking to impress in his first meeting against an English team this season.

We’ll get all the updates, build-up and team news from the Allianz Arena before kick-off at 8pm, so stay with us.
