Despite the bad weather, Man Utd will face Galatasaray in the Champions League

Manchester United’s game at Galatasaray is expected to go ahead after bad weather throughout the day in Istanbul put the Champions League tie in doubt.

It has rained non-stop throughout the day in the Turkish city and there are concerns about the condition of the pitch at Rams Park.

A UEFA statement said: “We are closely monitoring the weather forecast and at this stage the match will go ahead as planned.”

United and Galatasaray arrived as planned and began warming up as planned.

Erik ten Hag’s men sit bottom of Group A after losing three of their four games so far this season and failing to win away to Galatasaray in their last three visits.

When the two sides met at Old Trafford in October, Galatasaray twice came from behind to win 3-2, with Mauro Icardi scoring the winner in the 81st minute after United midfielder Casemiro was sent off.
