‘I don’t understand it’: Southgate defends Henderson after Wembley boos – Video | football

Gareth Southgate has criticized England fans who booed captain Jordan Henderson. It was Henderson’s first appearance at Wembley since his controversial move to Saudi Arabia.

Southgate said the fans’ actions “defy all logic” and added: “He is a player who has won 79 caps for England and his commitment and what he has done for England is extraordinary.” Henderson, who now plays for Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League, was one of several players who took to social media last week to express their support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup. However, when asked if this had been a factor, Southgate insisted it was counterproductive for his team.
