Four days after he criticized fans for booing the Senators after they lost their fifth game in six tries, captain Brady Tkachuk insists he “moved straight on.”
“I kind of deleted my social media so I didn’t really see anything,” the 24-year-old said Tuesday, regarding the fallout from his postgame diatribe on Saturday, in which he referred to the Canadian Tire crowd as jeers “frustrating, the negativity from outside, the constant booing” and another adjective that is not necessarily family friendly.
On Tuesday, Brady insisted he was looking forward, not back.

“I said what I said, but you can’t really hold things down. You just have to move on and focus on the task at hand, and that is Toronto (on Wednesday night),” he said.
The Senators are 4-6-0 so far, good for eight points and last place in the Atlantic Division. It’s also a far cry from expectations for the team this season, which is at 99.9 percent of the salary cap and is full of young talent.
The team hasn’t made the playoffs since 2017.
Still, Brady insists his confidence in his team hasn’t wavered.
“The belief that I have in this group and how much we want to win, not just for ourselves but for this community and these fans. We’re all in this together,” he said. “I have the utmost confidence in everything we do here, from top to bottom, from the responsibility to the players, I think we’re all on the same page.”…I really believe we’re on the right track.
“This small step here will make us a much better team.”
Brady and the Senators will get a chance to prove that on Wednesday when they travel to Toronto to play the Maple Leafs. This game can be seen at 7:00 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
