Tavares from the Maple Leafs returns against the Blues, Rifai makes his NHL debut

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have captain John Tavares back in the lineup and defender Marshall Rifai will make his NHL debut in Monday’s afternoon game St Louis Blues.

Tavares missed the Maple Leafs’ 9-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks due to a minor injury. He trained fully on Sunday. In 51 games this season, Tavares has 15 goals and 25 assists.

Rifai is making his NHL debut after signing a two-year deal with the Maple Leafs this offseason. The 25-year-old has two goals and 11 points in 34 games with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL this season.

Rifai comes into the lineup in place of defenseman William Lagesson, who had to leave Saturday’s game against the Ducks with an upper-body injury.

You can watch the Maple Leafs begin their four-game road trip with a Monday game against the Blues at 1:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 a.m. PT on Sportsnet.
