The Canucks are recalling Jack Studnicka from the AHL under emergency conditions

The Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday that they had been recalled to the front Jack Studnicka from the American Hockey League under emergency conditions.

Due to their current injuries and lack of cap space, the Canucks played against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night with just 17 outfield players (one forward was missing).

Under the Roster Emergency Exception (REE) in the National Hockey League’s CBA, Vancouver can draft Studnicka without impacting his cap. However, Studnicka must return to the Abbotsford Canucks as soon as they have 18 healthy players available again.

Studnicka, 24, played 47 games for Vancouver during the 2022-23 season, collecting eight points (four goals and four assists).

The Canucks will play the Oilers on Saturday as part of Hockey Night in Canada.
