England’s Ben Stokes on Friday simply said his team had “been rubbish” when asked about the reasons why the defending champions struggled so badly at the Cricket World Cup in India. England are bottom of the table and have lost five of their six group games so far. “The problem is we screwed up,” he said. “We weren’t nearly good enough to compete in a World Cup, which was incredibly disappointing because we know we are so much better than what we showed here.”
